Membership in the Texas Navy Association
Overview
When the Texas Navy was re-activated by Governor Price Daniel in 1958, there were provisions for various ranks of membership, all requiring an appointment from the Governor of Texas. The Texas Navy Association was formed in 1973 and ratified as the official governing body of the Texas Navy by the 64th Texas Legislature, and its by-laws set forth provisions for membership. In 2008, the Board of Directors of the Texas Navy Association established the ranks of LIEUTENANT and COMMANDER of the Texas Navy, which fall under the provision of "honorary membership" in the Texas Navy By-Laws. All Texans of good character and reputation may join the Texas Navy.
